Like with the start of many things,
early bloggers did not have a name for what they were doing.
While it took some time for the genre and the name to develop,
blogging has been around since the begining of the internet.
Ever since blogs came
into prominence a few years ago, they have reshaped the internet
medium, have had an impact on politics and international journalism
and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect
with others.
To put it very simply,
a blog is an website, where new content can be placed on a
regular basis with the most recent content placed on top,
enabling visitors to read what is new on the website. The
visitors can either comment on the new posting or email the
author or choose to ignore the material. All of this for free.
Many people use
a blog just to organize their own thoughts, while others command
influential, worldwide audiences of thousands. Professional
and amateur journalists use blogs to publish breaking news,
while personal journals reveal inner thoughts.
